The FSDG is a multi-agency network, where all fire incidents that resulted in a fatality or serious injury are reviewed. The multi-agency review provides a holistic picture of any previous partner agency involvement with the individual(s) including their presenting vulnerabilities prior to the incident. The multi-agency review aims to identify and support multi agency learning and improvements in fire safety practices.

The FSDG works to ensure a consistent approach to managing fire risk for all partners and will complete workstreams to review existing practices and provide guidance and recommendations for partner agencies to consider.

• To ensure that fire risk is managed as a priority by all partners across Hampshire, IOW, Portsmouth and Southampton.
• To provide consistency in how the fire safety of vulnerable groups is managed across Hampshire, IOW, Portsmouth and Southampton.
• To identify and share learning as a means of reducing avoidable fire deaths and near miss fire incidents, and to ensure that learning is reviewed and embedded within partner agency organisations.

The FSDG is a sub group of the four Local Safeguarding Adults Boards (4LSAB) in Hampshire, IOW, Portsmouth and Southampton. Membership of the 4LSAB Fire Safety Development Subgroup is constantly evolving to ensure that it includes all key partner agencies who can contribute to case reviews & learning and support the aim that fire risk is managed as a priority.

The FSDG membership currently includes:
