Biker Down

Knowing what to do – and what not to do – if you are involved in or witness a motorcycle crash can make a real difference. Injured motorcyclists need to be treated carefully to avoid causing further harm. 

That’s why we run free Biker Down courses – to reduce motorcycle casualties by equipping riders with essential knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to reduce risks on the road and respond safely and effectively if a collision occurs.

This free, three-hour course is delivered in three parts: 

• Part 1 – Incident scene management

Learn how to ensure the safety of people at the scene, tend to the fallen rider, offer first aid and alert the emergency services.

• Part 2 – Casualty care

How to deal with motorcycle-related first aid such as typical trauma, leg injury, major bleeds, basic life support and crash helmet removal.  

• Part 3 – The thinking biker 

Learn how we interpret what we see, including the phenomenas of motion camouflage, looming, and ‘saccadic masking’, plus advice on being seen. 

• You will receive a certificate on completion of the course. 

Biker Down trainers

Biker Down sessions are delivered by dedicated volunteer instructors, who are current or retired emergency service professionals and experienced riders, all united by a shared passion for keeping the motorcycling community safe.
