How to contact usWe thank you for your interest but we have recently received a large number of volunteer applications, so we aren’t currently recruiting new volunteers at this time. We will update this page when volunteer recruitment re-opens.
When people think about fire and rescue, they often picture firefighters responding to fires and road traffic collisions. While that is an important part of what we do, our role goes much further. We work closely with local communities to help people stay safe through prevention, education, and support.
Our volunteers are based throughout the counties and support our teams in many ways. You could help deliver home safety advice, speak to community groups, support our Fire Cadets programme, or attend local events to promote fire and road safety.
We are proud to have around 100 volunteers aged 18 to over 80 from all walks of life. They include students, parents, retirees, and people in all kinds of jobs and backgrounds. What they all share is a passion for giving back and making a difference.
While these roles are unpaid, you can claim reasonable expenses such as travel. We also provide full training and appropriate clothing.
If you can spare at least four hours a week, enjoy being part of a team, and want to make a real difference in your community, we would love to hear from you.
We are proud to be an Investing in Volunteers (IiV) achiever, having been awarded the quality mark in 2023. It shows that we value our volunteers and demonstrates our commitment to volunteering within the organisation. This award was achieved with financial support from 3SFire CIC.
We really value the skills and experience that our volunteers bring to our organisation. In exchange, you will get the opportunity to utilise your spare time by making a difference within the community, develop new skills, meet people from different backgrounds, make new friends, build confidence and have your contribution and achievements recognised.
Being part of our volunteering team will help you learn more about our organisation and its aims, and help you gain a sense of pride at the same time as being involved in something that’s rewarding and enjoyable.
