How to contact usWe are driven by the pride in what we do and by our sense of duty, doing the very best we can every day. We are guided by our purpose – together we make life safer – serving as our assurance to our communities that in times of need we will be there. This purpose sits above our values which are central to everything we do and form the culture of our service. We are constantly learning and adapting, responding to the challenges we face together and remaining focused on our priorities.
Our values, crafted by our workforce, are now the cornerstone of everything we do. They define and reinforce our identity, guiding us in how we act both individually and collectively as a service. These values shape our culture, drive our actions, and reflect what we stand for.
Following on from the creation of our values we worked together as a service to define the behaviours that demonstrate their practical application – the way we believe all our colleagues should act at work, regardless of rank or role. Importantly, these behaviours closely reflect who we are as a service, they demonstrate our personality, and they enable us to achieve our purpose.
We offer a wide range of benefits to our employees, including opportunities for professional development and the chance to gain qualifications. We are dedicated to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture for all staff. Our employees enjoy generous annual leave, along with enhanced maternity and paternity pay. We provide flexible working options for most roles and prioritize health, fitness, and wellbeing support. Additionally, employees have access to pension providers and the Blue Light benefit scheme.
Our Learning and Development team are responsible for the training of all staff, both operational and non-operational personnel. They deliver this in conjunction with our Workforce Development Team, who provide our leadership and management training.
We actively encourage and challenge colleagues to seek out apprenticeship pathways which will support and enhance their personal and professional development.
We aspire to create a workforce that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve, with a strong focus on inclusive recruitment. Through Positive Action, we are committed to addressing disparities faced by certain groups, ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates and promoting a level playing field.
Our people are at the heart of everything we do, we recognise that good wellbeing and health of our people is essential to enable everyone to achieve their potential and contribute to making Hampshire and the Isle of Wight safer.
Our overarching aim is to create a safe, supportive and healthy working environment, we have a wellbeing team that offers support, information and advice to enable people to look after their wellbeing and recognise when colleagues may need a helping hand.
