New Forest pony stuck in mud and trapped in branches rescued by on-call crews
A New Forest pony stuck in the mud was rescued by on-call firefighters on Sunday afternoon.
A crew from Ringwood along with a specialist animal rescue officer and team from Lyndhurst were called to the scene on Janesmoor Plain Road in Fritham at around half three.
The 13-hands pony was stuck in mud and trapped by a fallen tree.
Firefighters worked to remove the branches to reach the animal before it was released from the mud.
Crews checked the welfare of the animal and passed it into the care of a local agister.
HIWFRS left the scene and returned to station at around 5pm.
