Firefighters Respond to Cargo Ship Fire at Southampton Docks

Throughout the night and into the early hours of the morning, various relief strategies were implemented to support the firefighting teams and maintain their capacity.
By around 7am, the incident was further scaled down to two fire engines and one aerial platform ladder, ensuring continued monitoring while preventing any potential escalation.
Crews will remain on site, with a fire service presence expected over the next 24 hours.

At around 6:00 pm this evening, a fire broke out in the hold of a large cargo vessel docked at Southampton Docks, involving scrap metal stored onboard.
Over 40 firefighters are currently on scene, working closely with the port authority to contain the incident. The response includes seven fire engines, one aerial ladder platform, and a range of specialist and support vehicles.
All crew members of the vessel have been accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.
Due to the scale of the emergency response, the public is advised to avoid the vicinity of Southampton Docks while the situation is being managed. Operations are expected to continue throughout the night.
