large fire involving two fields in Alderholt

There was a large fire involving two fields off Hillbury Road, Alderholt. The fire, which began in one field, spread to a secondary grass field measuring approximately 100m x 100m, with a second affected area of around 80m x 80m.

Crews from Hampshire & Isle of Wight FRS, including Ringwood and Fordingbridge, along with Dorset & Wiltshire FRS, were alerted shortly after 2:30pm and attended the scene.

Members of the public were asked to avoid the area, and a road closure was put in place.

The fire has now been extinguished. Firefighters used five hose reels and four beaters to bring the blaze under control. The stop message was received at 5:30pm. Crews are currently damping down on site and will be returning to the station shortly.
