Firefighters prevent homes from being destroyed following Holbury campervan blaze

A campervan on a Holbury driveway was involved in a significant blaze yesterday morning.
Multiple emergency calls were made into the HIWFRS Control Room reporting the fire on Oakley Close, shortly before 10am.
Fortunately, all residents had evacuated and were clear from the fire.
On-call firefighters from Hardley and Beaulieu were first on the scene to find smoke and flames issuing.
Crews from Redbridge, Hamble and St Mary’s arrived before firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were able to enter the properties to check for any fire spread.
Hose reels and jets were used to extinguish the fire and dampen down the scene, with ventilation fans in operation to clear smoke from the area.
The vehicle was fully destroyed in the blaze which also damaged the exterior of the two homes.
Fire safety materials were delivered to neighbouring homes before HIWFRS left the scene shortly before midday.
