Blackfield bungalow blaze tackled by firefighters in the early hours
A bungalow in Langley near Blackfield was destroyed in a fire that began at around midnight.
Crews from Hardley, Hythe, Beaulieu, Redbridge, Totton and St Mary’s arrived to find the fire at the rear of the property had spread to the roof.
Two casualties were treated for smoke inhalation, one at the scene, and another who was taken onto hospital by paramedics.
The incident command unit from HQ was called to the scene along with the aerial ladder platform.
The gas and electricity to the property was isolated as firefighters in breathing apparatus stopped the fire using hose reel jets.
The roof had been destroyed in the blaze, with the ground floor destroyed by residual water.
Remaining crews dampened down hotspots before returning to station at around half five this morning.
One crew returned to check for any signs of the fire whilst undertaking home fire safety visits at nearby premises.
