Animal rescue firefighters re-moo-ve cow stuck in the mud in Winchester

One cow found out that the grass isn’t greener on the other side, when it got stuck in the mud trying to cross the River Itchen on Tuesday morning!

The fully grown cow was rescued by firefighters who were alerted at around calf seven!

Specialist crews from Winchester, Eastleigh and Overton arrived to free the 600kg animal from its sticky situation at River Park in Winchester.

Nine firefighters entered the water to help release the cow from the mud, before lifting and re-moo-ving the animal to safety and into a nearby field, using a specialist winch.

HIWFRS left the scene at around midday.
