The HIWFRA Firefighters' Pension Board is looking to appoint a Scheme Member Representative to serve on the Pension Board for a fixed four-year period.

Applications are open to anyone who:

  • Is employed by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service in a role which entitles you to be a member of either the 1992, 2006, 2006 Modified or 2015 Fire Pension Schemes, or
  • Is in receipt of a pension from the scheme, or
  • Has left scheme membership prior to retirement age and obtained a right to receive a deferred pension.

The Pension Board assists HIWFRA, as the administering authority of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Firefighter’s Pension Scheme (HIWFFPS). Its purpose is to ensure proper scrutiny and governance of the Pension Scheme and provide assurance to the Scheme Manager.

The Pension Board normally meets four times each year at Service headquarters and members are supported by officers who advise and carry out the day-to-day responsibilities.

Training and mentoring will be provided to help you fulfil this unpaid role.

2006 Modified Fire Pension Scheme for former on-call firefighters

Did you, or someone you know, work as an on-call firefighter in Hampshire and Isle of Wight between 7 April 2000 and 5 April 2006?

If so, you may now be eligible to buy backdated membership of the 2006 Modified Fire Pension Scheme and be entitled to some money.
