Sawmill blaze tackled by Hampshire and Dorset crews

A building used as a sawmill in Bransgore was involved in a large blaze on Saturday evening.

Crews from both Hampshire and Dorset were in attendance to extinguish the flames.

Alerted at around half five, firefighters from New Milton, Lymington and DWFRS were quickly on the scene.

Nearby residents were advised to close windows and doors due to heavy smoke in the area.

Crews worked to stop the fire spreading to electrical cables and nearby woodland.

Electrical engineers attended to isolate the power supply to the building.

The stop message came in at 19:52 when all but two crews, who remained to dampen down, returned to station.

One crew from Hardley took over from the firefighters who had arrived first on the scene, working until the early hours.

An on-call team from Ringwood attended in the morning to check for any remaining hotspots.

Fire investigation officers are also set to attend to work with police to ascertain the cause of the blaze.
