Rushmoor and Surrey crews tackle multiple vehicle fires on the M3
Rushmoor firefighters were joined by a crew from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service at a vehicle blaze involving two cars on the M3.
The crews were called at 14:28 yesterday (31 Jan) to the incident on the southbound carriageway between junction 4 and 4a.
One vehicle was on a transporter, with the other car on a trailer behind.
Police colleagues were on the scene to manage traffic as firefighters wearing two sets of breathing apparatus, used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze.
Two other vehicles that were on the transporter were not affected in the blaze.
Crews returned to station shortly after 3pm.
A Rushmoor and Surrey crew had been called to a vehicle fire on the same stretch of motorway on the previous evening, at 22:10 (30 Jan).
The fire involving the engine compartment of the car on the hard shoulder, caused 20% damage to the vehicle.
Police were again on the scene as firefighters used one hose reel to stop the fire before returning at 11pm.
