Isle of Wight crews tackle Freshwater property blaze
Freshwater and Ryde firefighters were called to a ground-floor property fire on Guyers Road yesterday afternoon (31 Jan) at 12:56.
With smoke issuing from the rear of the property, further crews were requested, coming from Newport.
The blaze was extinguished using eight sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, an ultra-high pressure lance and ventilation fans for smoke clearance purposes.
Crews checked adjoining properties for any potential fire spread as one casualty was treated by ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation.
HIWFRS conducted Safe and Well visits to neighbouring houses, providing community reassurance.
Firefighters returned to station following the stop message at 14:38.
