On-call crews called to large forestry vehicle blaze in East Meon
On-call firefighters from Petersfield and Bishop’s Waltham were mobilised to a large vehicle fire in East Meon.
The crews were called at around half 11 yesterday morning (19 August), and found the forestry excavator well alight upon arrival.
Due to limited water supplies, and difficulty accessing the excavator, which was within trees nearby the West Meon Road, a specialist water carrier vehicle from Bordon was required.
HIWFRS used two sets of breathing apparatus, one main jet and one dry powder extinguisher to stop the fire which caused approximately 90% damage to the vehicle.
Crews returned to station at 13:13 following the stop message.
