Newport blaze destroys boat, car and container
Newport and Cowes firefighters were called to a boat fire in Newport on Saturday (5 June) morning.
The fire spread from the boat to a nearby car, and a container on Argyle Road, which were all destroyed in the blaze.
HIWFRS crews were called at 9.10am and made use of the Freshwater water carrier to extinguish the fire with four sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two main jets.
Police were requested to attend the scene to assist with establishing a cause for the fire.
HIWFRS returned to station following the stop message at 9:55am.
