Multi-agency response on the Isle of Wight after bus leaves the road
Crews worked alongside emergency service partners after a double-decker bus left the road.
Firefighters from Newport, Cowes, Shanklin and East Cowes were called to East Lane, Arreton, on the Isle of Wight at 18:04 tonight (Wednesday 1 December).
Firefighters used cutting equipment to release two passengers from the bus and handed them into the care of ambulance colleagues. In total, 13 casualties were assisted and attended to at the scene.
Station Manager Peter Clarke said: “We were working in difficult conditions, with poor light, but worked well together as a team with our multi-agency partners.
“The initial response by the first attending crews was really effective and laid the solid foundation for the resolution of this incident.”
