Man stuck in mud rescued by water rescue specialist firefighters

Firefighters from Cosham along with the water rescue team from Fareham were called at 08:47 this morning to Fareham Creek, on Eastern Parade, where a man had become stuck in the mud.

Crews used portable rescue platforms, known as mud paths, to reach the casualty, who was conscious and breathing, and bring him back to land.

The casualty was handed over to Hazardous Area Response Team paramedics to be checked over, as firefighters decontaminated their equipment.

The HIWFRS stop message came in at 09:55 with firefighters leaving the scene shortly afterwards.
