Firefighters Battle Blaze at Fordingbridge Landfill
On Monday evening, September 30th, just after 9pm, we were called to a fire at a landfill site in Fordingbridge. At the height of the fire four fire engines, two water carriers, and various other support vehicles were in attendance.
Crews from New Milton, Burley, Ringwood, Eastleigh, Beaulieu, Fordingbridge, and Newport attended the scene, along with additional support from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Firefighters battled the blaze using breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, and main jets to contain the fire, which spanned a deep-seated area of 40 by 70 meters of landfill waste. On-site plant machinery was deployed to help turn over and move the waste, allowing the crews better access to the fire.
After sustained efforts, the fire was fully extinguished, with the stop message being issued at 6pm on October 1st.
