Hampshire fire crews praised following rescue of Prince the horse
The 20-year-old gelding horse had slid down a bank and had become trapped in a ditch near Vyne Road in Bramley.
Firefighters from Overton and Basingstoke, along with an animal rescue vehicle from Winchester were called shortly after 9am yesterday morning (19 Dec).
The animal had been laid on its side for about an hour before crews arrived and worked alongside a local vet to formulate a rescue plan.
Crews used a sling and strops to move Prince to the top of the ditch and encourage him to his feet.
HIWFRS handed the incident over to the vet before leaving the scene shortly before 11am.
Doreen Turner, Prince’s owner, said:
“The teams were absolute brilliant, they were efficient, kind and managed to get him out and on his feet with no injury to Prince.”
