First-floor flat suffers significant damage in Southampton blaze
St Mary’s firefighters were called yesterday evening (22 Dec) to a fire which had broken out in a first floor flat at a property on Darwin Road.
Smoke was issuing from the building and initially there was believed to have been people still inside.
Upon arrival it was quickly established that there was no one inside, and crews quickly set to work tackling the fire using an ultra-high pressure lance, hose reel jets, breathing apparatus and ventilation fans to clear smoke.
The flat suffered 100% damage by the fire.
HIWFRS left the scene after conducting post-incident community safety visits and dampening down the flat.
The stop message came in at 17:12.
