Firefighters tackled an electrical fire in Cheriton garage this afternoon

Crews from Alton, Eastleigh, Petersfield, Redbridge, Portchester and Hightown were alerted at around four o’clock to the incident off of Alresford Road, where a large smoke plume was reported.

Supported by our incident command team, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used jets to stop the fire spreading whilst police shut the surrounding roads.

Three casualties were treated for smoke inhalation and taken onto hospital for precautionary checks.

Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters dampened down the scene before they began returning to station from around seven o’clock.
