Firefighters respond to large field fire in Chilbolton
Incident update 08:30 (3 Aug):
A crew from Sutton Scotney returned to the scene this morning to carry out another inspection. They found no signs of smoke or hotspots and confirmed that no further re-inspections are needed.
Incident update 21:30:
The Land Rover, hose reel jets and main jets were used to extinguish the fire in the field and hedgerows, and dampen down any hotspots. Gas monitors were used and detected no signs of a gas leak from the fuel storage facility.
A stop message has been received. Re-inspections will take place throughout the night.

The blaze is now under control. Approximately 50 hectares of field have been destroyed, with the fire spreading close to a nearby fuel storage facility.
Crews are using multiple hose reel jets and fan sprays to prevent the fire from spreading further, while firefighters continue to monitor and cool any affected cylinders.
Initial incident details:
Crews from Basingstoke, Alton, Andover, Beaulieu, Whitchurch, Overton, Alresford, Rushmoor, Sutton Scotney and Stockbridge, alongside an Incident Command Unit and colleagues from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, are currently at the scene of a large field fire on Drove Road, Chilbolton.
Around 50 firefighters are working to extinguish the blaze after the initial call was received shortly after 16:30.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area due to the number of emergency services vehicles on the scene.
