Crews battle woodland blaze in Shootash

*UPDATE – 10:00 (4 Aug)*

A few crews have returned to the scene of the woodland fire this morning after a number of flare ups were reported.

*UPDATE – 22:00*

A separate fire broke out at a neighbouring waste management site at around half six yesterday evening.

Approximately five hectares of grassland was destroyed in the blaze which was stopped by around 35 firefighters using hose reel jets and beaters.

Crews returned to station at 10pm.

*UPDATE – 17:00*

Our teams have worked hard throughout the day to surround the fire, and are now dampening down the area.

Further crews have arrived to take over from the firefighters who were first on the scene this morning.

Our presence in the area is set to be scaled down, with four fire engines to remain this evening.
