Firefighters dig Chocolate the donkey out of muddy pit

Firefighters worked hard in the blistering heat yesterday to prevent Chocolate melting in the sun and free her from her predicament!
The animal was found stuck in mud up to her belly shortly after five o’clock in Liss.
On-call firefighters from Petersfield, along with animal rescue trained crews from Lyndhurst and Winchester were on the scene to dig the 20-year-old donkey out.

Chocolate was assessed by a vet before being escorted back to her enclosure where she was reunited with friends.
Fire crews returned to station shortly after seven o’clock having been served a useful reminder not to leave chocolate out in the sun!
