Crews tackle blaze at terrace properties in Andover

The HIWFRS Fire Control Room took a number of emergency calls at around 10pm last night reporting a blaze at a mid terrace property in Andover.

Crews from Andover, Winchester, Basingstoke, Whitchurch and one from Dorset & Wiltshire FRS arrived to find both the ground and first-floor of the Spring Mews house well alight.

Firefighters donned breathing apparatus and used jets and the aerial ladder to tackle the fire which spread across three adjoining properties.

All residents safely evacuated from the properties, with one person passed into the care of the ambulance service for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Ventilation fans were in operation to clear smoke from the premises before firefighters delivered community safety materials to neighbouring addresses.

One snake was rescued from the property and taken to a local vet by an HIWFRS Animal Rescue Advisor.

The stop message came in at shortly before midnight.

Fire investigation officers will attend the scene in the morning to ascertain the cause of the blaze.
