Smoke alarm alerts occupants who were able to escape from Cowes house fire
Cowes, Newport and Ryde firefighters were called out to a house fire on Arctic Road in Cowes.
At 10:59 the HIWFRS Control Room received a number of calls reporting a fire in the ground floor living room of the two-storey terraced house.
Three casualties were able to escape the property after being alerted by a working smoke alarm. They treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and then taken onto hospital by IWAS paramedics, with police, electricity company engineers and British Red Cross partners also in attendance.
The fire was tackled using eight sets of breathing apparatus, two main jets, two hose reel jets and tactical ventilation fans in operation to clear smoke.
Firefighters dampened down the property which suffered extensive smoke damage before the stop message came in at 13:11.
