Aldershot shed fire sparked by discarded cigarette

A shed fire spread to four neighbouring properties in Aldershot.

Hampshire and Surrey crews were called to West Lane at 11:41 on Sunday morning.

Firefighters from Rushmoor were joined by Surrey crews and worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading further.

But the shed was destroyed and damage was caused to four neighbouring homes.

A fire investigation concluded that the most likely cause was careless disposal of a cigarette.

The stop message was received at 13:16 and firefighters gave members of the community fire safety advice before returning to station.
