Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service

HIWFRS protects a population of nearly two million people, providing lifesaving services to residents. Another part of the service’s role is preventing fires and other emergencies from occurring through community safety initiatives including their Safe and Well service.

This is a unique opportunity to help members of the community and support HIWFRS with their commitment to making life safer for all. Volunteering can be a rewarding experience, a chance to challenge yourself by trying something different, learning new skills and meeting interesting people, whilst giving something back to the community.

Safe and Well is a free home fire safety visit, tailored to an individual’s needs that can support the most vulnerable residents to help protect them and their home from fire.

The new recruits will help to promote the Safe and Well service to Isle of Wight residents and partner organisations through attending local events as well as conducting some of the visits themselves.

Full training, management support and uniform will be provided and all travel costs will be reimbursed.

If you’re over 18 and you can spare three hours a week to work as part of a team to help support your local fire service and members of your community then HIWFRS wants to hear from you. The closing date for applications is 31 July, 2021.
