FireStn3Kevin Francis who lives near Andover has seen his creation nominated for an award.

The former watch manager has seen his shed enter the running for the Pub Shed of the Year award.

The ‘Engine House’ is up against an Irish-Cornish pub shed, as well as an Only Fools and Horses themed back garden design.

Kevin retired from HIWFRS in June after 33 years of service at Grayshott, Basingstoke, Bordon, Rushmoor, Andover and at Headquarters in Eastleigh.

Challenged by his wife to have a clear out of his fire service memorabilia in 2017, he decided to build bespoke shed from scratch to display his collection.

The shed is now kitted out with a pole, helmets, badges and lots of other historical fire service mementos.

It is titled Engine House 07 in tribute to the station where he served alongside his father.

Kevin Francis said:

“The Engine House is still used regularly as a meeting place for friends, family and work colleagues. For me it has been a great place to relax and reflect on the great times I had in the fire service.

“I now work for the ambulance service but have no intention of painting the doors green!

“I am really excited about being a finalist and I congratulate my fellow finalists and wish them the best of luck.”

With the vote closing on 29th October there’s still time for you to support Kevin and vote for his Engine House to be crowned the winner.
