We’re excited to announce the release of a brand-new title in the Keeping Safe with Susie the Childminder Series, ‘Susie the Childminder and the Pandemic’!
The latest addition to the popular series has been produced to teach children about the importance of community, building resilience and staying safe, healthy and positive during challenging times.
Funded by Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum (HIOW LRF), the hope is that this free, fun yet educational tool will help teachers, parents and carers to have open discussions with children about how the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting us all, now and in the future.
Around 3,000 free copies of the book will be sent to all Infant and Primary schools across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight as well as other educational settings.
A free page-turner version is also available to access now on our website.
To celebrate the launch of ‘Susie the Childminder and the Pandemic’ our Education team are giving away four copies of the book along with some colourful rainbow kites, perfect for some safe family fun in the sun!
As lockdown eases, we thought this was the perfect time to reflect on what your family did differently during lockdown and any positive memories you want to share from this. Did you bake tasty cakes together? Spend time playing family board games?
Whatever the memory, all your child needs to do is create a picture to share their favourite moment from lockdown with us. This can be a drawing, painting, a collage, anything they like as long as they have fun making their creation! The only rule is it must be a happy memory as these are lovely to share.
You can submit these in a message to our Facebook page @HampshireFireService or tag us on Twitter @Hants_fire to enter.
The competition is open from Monday 27 July and closes on Wednesday 5 August so please submit all entries before midnight on this date.
The winners will be chosen via a vote on our Facebook and Twitter page after the closing date.
