Two hectares of hay destroyed by fire

Crews from Eastleigh, Botley, Bishop’s Waltham and Portchester were called to farmland off Hall Lands Lane, Fair Oak, at 15:22 today (18 July).
Four hose reel jets and beaters were used to extinguish a fire in a field of hay and prevent any further damage. Approximately two hectares of newly-cut hay have been destroyed by the fire.
The electricity board was requested to attend as it’s believed the cause was a spark from a sagging electricity cable.
