Two casualties rescued from vehicle stuck in floodwater in Nettlestone

Newport and Ryde firefighters were called to an incident in Nettlestone at 8:12 this morning on Pondwell Hill.

HIWFRS crews in water rescue gear, were able to help two adults from a car which was under 4 feet of water.

The two casualties were passed into the care of paramedics to be assessed, but with no apparent injuries.

HIWFRS left the scene following the stop message at 8:58.

We urge residents not to attempt to drive through flooded roads or fords as the water is often deeper than it looks and may be moving quite fast.

During busy times where resources are not deployed, Control Room operators will always offer advice on dealing with flooding and provide contact details for where callers can get further help, for example Floodline.
