Southampton sunbed shop damaged by fire

Firefighters from Redbridge, St Mary’s and Eastleigh were called to a fire at a sunbed shop in Kendal Avenue at 15:25 this afternoon.

Crews wore breathing apparatus to tackle a fire in the ground floor shop.

Flats above were affected by smoke, with one female given immediate emergency care at the scene by fire crews. She was later handed into the care of paramedics.

A neighbouring shop also suffered water damage.

Firefighters carried out community safety activity with local residents before the stop message was received at 16:42.

The cause of the fire will now be investigated.
