On-call crews called to washing machine blaze in New Forest home

On-call firefighters from Lymington and New Milton were called to a utility room blaze at a property on Westover Road in Milford-on-sea yesterday afternoon.

The two crews were alerted at 15:44 after the caller had reported smoke coming from their washing machine.

The owner of the property prevented the blaze from spreading and limited the smoke damage by closing the door to the affected room.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire using a hose reel jet before ventilating the property to clear smoke.

After damping down and conducting a home fire safety visit, crews returned to station at 16:17.
