Southampton firefighters called to mobile phone shop fire

HIWFRS firefighters from St Mary’s, Redbridge, Eastleigh, Hightown and Hamble were called to a ground floor fire at a shop on Portswood High Street at 21:12 on Saturday night.

Crews worked to gain access through the roller shutter door before using jets, hose reels, breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze and ventilation fans to clear smoke from the premises.

The flat on the first floor above the mobile phone battery shop was affected by smoke.

HIWFRS left the scene following the stop message at 22:24.
