Smoke seen coming from flat above barber shop
Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots following a fire above a barber shop near Camberley.
Crews from Yateley, Rushmoor, Hartley Wintney, Basingstoke and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were called to London Road, in Blackwater, at 22:10 on Saturday 15 January.
A passer-by had seen smoke coming from the flat above the shop and crews found a fire had spread from the first floor to a loft conversion.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reels to put the fire out. The aerial ladder platform from Basingstoke was also in attendance and a ventilation fan was used to clear smoke.
The road was closed while crews worked and the stop message was received at 01:11.
A re-inspection was carried out the following morning and no hot spots were found.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by electrical appliances under the first-floor stairs.
