On-call Fleet crew tackle vehicle blaze

On-call firefighters from Fleet were called to a vehicle blaze on Wood Lane shortly before 8:30pm last night.

The car was well alight when the crew arrived at the scene.

The fire caused approximately 50% damage to the vehicle and was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using high pressure hose reel jets.

Environmental equipment was used to prevent contaminated oil and water from entering a nearby stream.

Before the crew returned to station at around 21:40 they were reunited with a young lady who wanted to thank them after they had rescued her from an RTC at a previous incident which had left her in a serious condition.

The Fleet firefighters spoke how proud they were to have played a part in her remarkable recovery.
