North Hampshire firefighters called out to large vehicle fire which spread to field

A blaze involving a large hay baler vehicle spread to a field of cut straw in North Waltham on Sunday evening.

Crews from Basingstoke, Whitchurch, Winchester and Tadley were called to the farm on Steventon Road in North Waltham, just after 4pm alongside water carriers and Land Rovers from Hartley Wintney and Andover.

The fire also spread to six stacks of hay bales, which firefighters worked to break apart and dampen down.

The hay bailer suffered 20% damage by the fire with the rest of the 100sqm area of field alight stopped using hose reels, drag forks and beaters.

Crews continued to dampen down and turn over the straw following the stop message at 18:34.
