More than 20 firefighters tackle Romsey house blaze

Firefighters from Redbridge, Eastleigh and St Mary’s were called to a property fire on Chambers Avenue on Sunday afternoon.

Crews were mobilised at 14:38 following a call into the HIWFRS Control Room reporting a conservatory fire.

HIWFRS arrived on the scene to find a fully developed fire and smoke issuing, with a casualty requiring treatment for smoke inhalation and burns.

The fire was extinguished using the aerial ladder platform, eight sets of breathing apparatus, two jets and two hose reels.

The casualty, who didn’t require hospital treatment, was assessed by South Central Ambulance Service paramedics at the scene.

HIWFRS conducted Safe and Well visits at neighbouring properties before departing the scene at 16:42.
