Isle of Wight crews tackle caravan blaze in Shanklin

Firefighters were called out to a caravan ablaze just outside of a caravan park in Shanklin at 21:08 last night.

Crews from Shanklin, Ventnor, Ryde and Sandown accessed the blaze via the Languard Camping and Caravan Park.

The caravan involved contained chicken incubators and was 100 percent damaged by the fire. Minor damage was also caused to a nearby 4×4. No one was injured but sadly a number of livestock chicks were unable to be saved.

Crews used six breathing apparatus and two jets to extinguish the fire. The stop message was received at 23:06.
