Man rescued from Southampton flat fire
Southampton firefighters rescued a man from a flat in St Mary’s Street late on Saturday evening.
Crews from St Mary’s and Hightown were alerted to the kitchen fire shortly before 11pm.
The casualty was passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service paramedics and taken onto hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the frying pan fire before using ventilation fans to clear smoke.
Before returning to station at around midnight, the crews delivered a number of community fire safety materials to neighbouring addresses.
