Man rescued from Gosport flat fire
Gosport, Fareham, Cosham and Portchester crews were called at 15:00 this afternoon to a property fire in The Redan, Gosport.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service Control Room received numerous calls reporting smoke issuing from both sides of a first-floor flat and the aerial ladder platform was sent from Southsea.
Crews rescued one casualty from the property who was then treated and taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service paramedics.
Breathing apparatus, hose reels and jets were used to tackle the blaze.
The flat suffered a 100% damage by the fire with neighbouring flats affected by the smoke and water.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters conducted a salvage operation of the flat and delivered community fire safety messaging to nearby residents.
Crews left the scene following the stop message at 18:30, but will return to check for remaining hotspots tonight. Fire Investigation Officers will return to conduct in the morning to establish a cause.
