Large crop fire on Hampshire-Dorset border tackled by firefighters
Crews were called to a large crop fire on the Hampshire-Dorset border shortly after three o’clock this afternoon.
Firefighters from Ringwood, Fordingbridge, Beaulieu, St Mary’s, Hightown, Fareham, Eastleigh and Dorset and Wiltshire FRS teams fought the fire using fire engines, water carriers and command and off-road vehicles.
The electricity board attended the scene in Harbridge Green due to a number of damage electrical pylons.
The fire caused damage to a 300m by 80m area before it was extinguished by the use of hose reel jets.
One fire engine and an off-road vehicle remain on the scene this evening to dampen down.
