Havant flat fire caused by cigarette setting light to sofa
Two casualties were treated for smoke inhalation, with one requiring hospital treatment, as firefighters tackled the first-floor flat blaze on Rowan Road.
Firefighters from Havant, Cosham and Portchester were called just before 7pm after a neighbour had reported smoke and an alarm sounding.
Smoke was issuing from the first floor as firefighters rescued the two casualties, before providing them with Immediate Emergency Care and passing them into the care of South Central Ambulance Service paramedics.
The fire involving a sofa was believed to have been caused by a cigarette, and was extinguished using four sets of breathing apparatus, one jet, two hose reels and tactical ventilation for smoke clearance.
