Hampshire crews tackle house fire in Dummer near Basingstoke
Around 50 firefighters tackled a house fire in the village of Dummer near Basingstoke yesterday evening.
Crews from Basingstoke, Odiham, Winchester, Whitchurch, Andover and Eastleigh were called at 15:38 where a fire on the second-floor of the property had spread into the roof.
A sounding smoke alarm alerted neighbours who were able to dial 999 and release the dogs from inside.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to stop the blaze.
After conducting a salvage operation and damping down remaining hotspots, HIWFRS completed Safe & Well visits at neighbouring properties.
The incident was scaled down before the stop message came in at 20:48, with one crew returning later in the evening to reinspect the scene.
