Hampshire and Dorset crews tackle multiple vehicle fires on A31 near Poulner

Van fireA Ringwood fire engine was joined by a crew from DWFRS to tackle a fruit and veg van blaze on the A31 westbound shortly before 8am yesterday.
The fire was extinguished shortly before a separate fire, involving another vehicle, broke out nearby.
Firefighters from both HIWFRS and DWFRS tackled the lorry fire at around 9am, following more than 20 emergency calls reporting the incident.
The trailer unit, carrying household waste, was well alight on the eastbound carriageway when firefighters first arrived on scene.
Specialist aerial and water carrier vehicles were then called to support.
Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire, before removing the contents of the vehicle in order to dampen down.
The incident was scaled down to two fire engines ahead of the stop message at around 2pm.

The contents of the vehicle was removed onto the side of the road to allow crews to dampen down.
