Hampshire and Berkshire crews tackle blaze near Basingstoke
Around 30 firefighters were on the scene of a property fire in Lychpit near Basingstoke this afternoon.
Crews from Basingstoke, Tadley, Winchester and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the two-storey detached property in Heron Park at 14:14.
The initial call into the HIWFRS Control Room reported a shed fire had spread to a garden fence, before spreading further onto the house itself.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus made use of jets, hose reels and the aerial ladder to stop the fire before damping down.
A section of the roof was severely damaged in the fire with the first-floor of the house affected by water.
Fortunately, no one was injured and crews were able to conduct a salvage operation to save some of the owners’ personal belongings.
Fire Investigation officers and police are set to attend the scene to ascertain the cause of the blaze.
Firefighters completed home fire safety visits at neighbouring addresses before returning to station following the stop message shortly before 4pm.
