Gas cylinder blaze tackled by New Forest and Southampton crews
More than 20 firefighters were called out yesterday afternoon following a fire at a car workshop in Hythe.
Crews from Hardley, Beaulieu, Redbridge and St Mary’s were alerted to the incident at Trident Business Park at around 3pm.
The aerial ladder and Romsey’s Environmental Protection Unit were also on the scene.
Smoke was issuing from the building as firefighters arrived.
HIWFRS worked to cool the cylinders using jets and hose reels before clearing the residual smoke from the workshop using ventilation fans.
Firefighters returned to station following the stop message at 17:13.
