Flats evacuated following fire in Portsmouth

Crews from Southsea, Cosham and Portchester were called to a fire at a restaurant takeaway shop in North End, Portsmouth, last night.

The call came in at 19:55 and the first engines were on scene at the two-storey terraced building in London Road within five minutes.

Firefighters evacuated flats above the takeaway and tackled a fire on the ground floor using 14 breathing apparatus, jets and a ventilation fan to clear smoke.

No-one was injured and HIWFRS worked with partner agencies to make sure residents living above the takeaway were supported.
